Avijit's publisher Tutul released from hospital

Shuddhashar publisher Ahmedur Rashid Tutul, who sustained severe injuries in an attack by machete-wielding assailants, has been released from Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Shuddhashar Prokashani published slain writer-blogger Avijit Roy's book Shunya Theke Mahabishwa and the publisher reportedly received death threat after the brutal murder of Avijit. Tutul has written two poetry books--Durbalataguchchha, Mrita Ghorhar Hresha.

DMCH police outpost SI Sentu Chandra Das told the Dhaka Tribune: “The publisher left the hospital around 7:20pm Tuesday.

“He was accompanied by his family members.”

Earlier on October 31, three bloggers and writers, including Tutul, came under the attack at his Shuddhashar publication office in the capital's Lalmatia area.

The other injured are blogger Ranadipam Basu, and poet Tareq Rahim.

The trio survived the attack carried out with machetes and firearms, and were admitted the DMCH, where he went under treatment since then.

Faisal Arefin Dipan, whose publishing house also published a book of slain writer-blogger Avijit Roy, has been hacked to death in the capital's Aziz Supermarket the same day.
