Military policeman hacked near Dhaka Cantonment

A military policeman has sustained injuries as unidentified miscreants hacked him at Kochukhet in Dhaka Cantonment area.

The identity of the injured could not be known immediately.

Kafrul police station's Sub-Inspector Abdul Halim confirmed the incident to the Dhaka Tribune.

Witnesses said the incident took place in front of Rajanigondha Super Market around 9:30am Tuesday.

Quoting locals, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia told the Dhaka Tribune: "The attacker suddenly appeared in the scene and started hacking the military policeman, leaving him critically injured. Being chased by the locals, the criminal took shelter inside an adjacent house.

"Later, the law enforcers captured him from the house. He is now under police custody."

However, he did not disclose the identity of the detainee.

Kafrul police station's Sub-Inspector Abdul Halim said: “We have heard that a military policeman has been hacked in the area but we have not yet received any details about the attack. A team has been sent to the spot.”

The incident takes place six days after the attack on a constable of Industrial Police in Ashulia.

Constable Mukul was hacked to death and another received injuries when some unidentified miscreants attacked them at a check post in Baraipara on November 4.
