A Taiwan-owned furniture manufacturing factory at the Karnaphuli Export Processing Zone (KEPZ) in Chittagong caught fire yesterday morning.
However, none was reported to have received injuries from the fire.
Chittagong Fire Service and Civil Defence sources said the factory caught fire at 6:50am. On information, six vehicles of the fire service rushed to the spot and managed to doused the flame after two hours of frantic effort.
Md Jashim Uddin, deputy assistant director of Chittagong fire service, said: “The extent of damage caused by the fire could not be ascertained immediately. The company manufactures chair, table, hutch buffet, bed, nightstand, chest, dresser, TV stand and commercial furniture.” added Jashim.
