Two siblings have been killed and five others injured in a collision between a microbus and pickup van in Shanuhar area under Warizpur upazila in Barisal.
The deceased are Abul Haoladar, 56, and Ismail Haoladar, 49, sons of Alfazuddin Haoladar of Hastishunda. Both of them are betel nut trader.
Witnesses said a betel nut-laden pickup van collided with a newspaper-laden microbus and plunged into a roadside ditch around 7am Monday, killing two on the spot and injuring the others.
Gournadi highway police station OC Mahbubur Rahman Chowdhury said: “The injured have been admitted to Wazirpur Upazila Health Complex and Barisal Sher-E-Bangla Medical College Hospital.”
He said the bodies have been sent to SBMCH morgue for autopsy, Wazipur OC Nurul Islam said.
