Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid has been elected as vice president of the ongoing 38th session of the general conference of UNESCO at its headquarters in Paris.
Shubodh Chandra Dhali, deputy secretary of education ministry, told The Dhaka Tribune on Wednesday.
Education minister is representing Bangladesh delegate in the general assembly that began on November 3 and will continue till November 18.
Ministers and senior officials of the 195 member states, 8 associate members and representatives of various UN agencies, media and NGOs are taking part in the conference.
Bangladesh will serve as the vice-president of the UNESCO general conference for the 2015-2017 term.
