'Ashulia cop killing premeditated like Gabtoli incident'

A senior police official at Savar model police station has claimed the murder of industrial police constable Mukul is premeditated.

Besides, he opined that the fresh killing might have sharp relation with the incident of an assistant sub-inspector murder in Gabtoli area some days ago in the same style.

“We initially suspect that the Gabtoli incident is akin to Ashulia murder. The attack is premeditated and the culprits whoever involved in the killing will be traced down,” said Savar police station Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police Rasel Sheikh on Wednesday.

Soon after the incident, senior police officials visited the crime scene and local police brought Ashulia area under security blanket and started comb drive to arrest the killers, as part of which about 15 check posts have been set up there immediately.

Dhaka Superintendent of Police Habibur Rahman said: “We are conducting drives to arrest the killers and primarily suspect that Jamaat-Shibir activists are responsible for the murder.”

Around 8am Wednesday, some unidentified miscreants, equipped with lethal weapons, stormed into a team of patrol police at Baraipara in Ashulia and hacked two constables including Mukul, leaving them critically injured.

Later, the duo was whisked off to Savar Enam Medical College Hospital where physicians declared Mukul dead. The condition of Nur-E-Alam is stated to be critical.

Earlier on October 22, some miscreants killed Ibrahim Miah, assistant sub-inspector of Darus Salam police station, in the capital's Gabtoli area in the same way.
