Update : 03 Nov 2015, 09:23 AM

The government has beefed up security measures at the Shah Amanat International Airport in Chittagong.

Following the direction of the Home Ministry, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members have been deployed at the Shah Amanat airport on Tuesday, said 28 BGB Battalion Commanding Officer Lt Col Emarat Hossain.

The BGB personnel have checked the airport area at noon using two dog squads, he told the Dhaka Tribune.

"Two dog squads comprising three teams will be used in guarding the airport area until the further notice in this regard," he added.

When asked whether any threat behind the tight security, Hossain said: “BGB deployment with two dog squads at the airport is a precautionary measure, nothing else.”
