Update : 31 Oct 2015, 12:56 PM

Faisal Arefin Dipan, whose publishing house published a book of slain writer-blogger Avijit Roy, has been hacked to death in the capital's Aziz Supermarket.

Dipan's publishing house Jagriti Prakashani published slain writer-blogger Avijit Roy's book Biswasher Virus (The Virus of Faith).

OC Shahbagh Abu Bakar Siddique told the Dhaka Tribune that the incident took place at the outlet of Jagriti Prakashani located on the second floor of Aziz Supermarket on Saturday evening, a few hours after another of Avijit's publishers, Ahmedur Rashid Tutul, came under similar attack.

Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) has claimed responsibility for the killing of Dipan and the attack on another publisher and two bloggers in Dhaka.

Saturday's attacks come amid fears about the rise of extremism in Bangladesh. At least four atheist bloggers have been murdered in the country earlier this year.
