The by-election of Moulvibazar 3 constituency, which became vacant with the recent death of social welfare minister Syed Mohsin Ali, will be held on December 8.
Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmad made the announcement at a press conference in the Election Commission yesterday.
According to the schedule, the deadline for nomination paper submission is November 11, the deadline of nomination scrutiny is November 14 and the last date for nomination withdrawal is November 22.
The chief election commissioner said the commission was legally bound to arrange the by-poll by December 12 as the constituency, comprising Moulvibazar’s Sadar and Rajnagar upazilas, fell vacant on September 14.
