Four construction workers, including two of a family, have been killed as a septic tank collapsed on them at Boidyanathpur village in the district's Jibannagar upazila.
The deceased are Hashem Ali, 52, his son Sujon, 32, Jalal Uddin, 25, and Jewel, 25.
Jibannagar police station OC Humayun Kabir said: "The deceased were constructing a new septic tank by an old one at the house of Rustam Ali, an engineer of Dhaka Electric Supply Authority (Desa), in the afternoon.
"The old septic tank suddenly collapsed on them around 3:50pm, leaving all of them dead on the spot."
