Rajon murder verdict Nov 8

A Sylhet court has fixed November 8 to announce verdict in the murder case of 13-year-old Sheikh Samiul Alam Rajon who was beaten to death in the district in July.

Following the end of hearing on Tuesday, a court of Sylhet Metropolitan Sessions Judge Akbar Hossain Mridha fixed the verdict date on Tuesday.

When asked, Additional Public Prosecutor Mohammad Mafur Ali confirmed it to the Dhaka Tribune.

Earlier, the court concluded hearing depositions from 36 witnesses in the case. On the other hand, the lawsuit's main accused Kamrul, who fled to Saudi Arabia soon after Rajon’s death, was brought back to the country by police.

On July 8, Rajon was beaten to death in Sylhet’s Kumargaon by some men who falsely accused him of stealing a rickshaw van. Later, the footage of the incident went viral and it drew massive criticism from the countrymen.
