NHRC: Foreigner, ASI killings have correlation

Update : 26 Oct 2015, 07:57 PM

Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Dr Mizanur Rahman yesterday said there is a correlation between the killings of two foreigners and assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Ibrahim Hossain Mollah.

“Those who have killed this policeman shouldn’t be taken into account separately from those who want to create instability in the country,” he told reporters while visiting the slain Ibrahim’s ancestral home in Kachua upazila of the district.

Ibrahim Hossain Mollah, an ASI of Darus Salam Police Station in Dhaka city, was stabbed to death on October 22 by a miscreant at a check-post at Gabtali in the capital when a police team was searching his bag.

Dr Mizan said the sacrifice of this policeman is a wake-up call for all against any big possible terrorist activity. “And this has also proved that the police force is sincere to play its due role.”

The ASI will ever be remembered for the role he played when local and international cliques are engaged in conspiracies to hinder the trial process of war criminals in Bangladesh, the NHRC chairman told the local newsmen.
