Chittagong Metropolitan Police beefed up security in all strategic points and Key Pont Installations (KPIs) of the city to prevent any possible untoward incident.
The recent security measures came in the backdrop of recent murders of two foreign nationals and bomb attack on Shia Muslim community’s Ashura observation in the capital.
The CMP also asked all police stations and check-posts to stand alert and deployed additional forces in the city to prevent any kind of subversive activities.
The police conducted search operation in all strategic points of the city, including entry and exits points of the city, bus terminals, rail stations, court buildings, Chittagong port, airport.
CMP Additional Commission (administration, finance and traffic) told Dhaka tribune that they had beefed up security all over the city.
“We have deployed additional forces and set up check-posts in the city as a precaution. Security has also been stepped up in a total of 49 Key Point Installations under different categories in the city,” said the CMP Additional Commissioner.
Meanwhile, the district police during an overnight special drive arrested 237 people, including 16 activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir raiding, at different upazilas of Chittagong district, said Mohammad Naimul Hasan, additional superintendent of police (special branch), Chittagong.
