Sultana Kamal, executive director of Ain O Salish Kendra, yesterday urged the government to take appropriate measures to ensure security for minority communities across the country.
She said: “The country for all people, including Hindus, Christians and Buddhists, the people who create split among them do not believe in the sovereignty of the country. They are the enemy of the county and nation.”
The human rights activist made the remark while addressing a press conference at Thakurgaon press club after visiting Ronobagh area, Baliadanga upazila.
She said: “I become astonished hearing cry of Hindus of Ronobagh, they want to live in the country, when we went there supporters of local lawmakers uprooted tea plants from the land of Hindus which they have grabbed.
“The minority people told us that as the MP is influential, they do not dare to raise voice against him.”
Barrister Sara Hossain, Advocate of Supreme Court Tobarak Hossain, Executive Director of Association for land Reform and Development Shamsul Huda and President of Thakurgaon Press Club Abu Torab Manik were present at the press briefing.
According to local sources, lawmaker Dabirul Islam has built a tea garden in Ronobagh after grabbing land of Hindus.
After the grab, many people have migrated to India as musclemen of the MP were threatening them of dire consequences.
