Shahjahan Mahmud has joined Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) as its new Chairman.
After joining his office in the morning yesterday, Mahmud attended a view exchange meeting with the BTRC officials.
Newly appointed BTRC boss announced “Performance Award” for the officials based on year-to-year performance of the employees.
“We’ve to utilize the telecommunication sector for building Digital Bangladesh,” said Shahjahan Mahmud while speaking at the view exchange meeting.
He also informed the BTRC officials about his plan to take some measures for updating office, automation system to expedite the work of BTRC.
Ex-chairman of BTRC Sunil Kanti Bose came to the office on Wednesday to bid farewell as his three years contract expired.
Appointing Shahjahan Mahmud as the new BTRC chairman, the Public Administration ministry issued the gazette notification on September 23. His contract will end on May 11, 2018.
An expatriate Bangladeshi in USA, Mahmud is holding the position of President of Awami League’s Washington DC metropolitan unit.
