Update : 22 Oct 2015, 08:08 PM

Hosts Chittagong Abahani pipped Dhaka Abahani 1-0 in their Group B encounter of the inaugural Sheikh Kamal International Club Cup at MA Aziz Stadium in the port-city of Chittagong yesterday.

A brilliant free-kick from national winger Zahid Hossain gave Chittagong Abahani their first win of the eight-nation tournament while Dhaka Abahani tasted their opening loss.

Courtesy the victory, Chittagong Abahani drew level with Dhaka Abahani on three points. Table-toppers East Bengal have maximum six points while Karachi Electric FC are down at the bottom with no points.

Earlier, I-League side East Bengal registered a comprehensive 3-1 win over Pakistan Premier League champions Karachi Electric FC in yesterday’s first match of the day at the same venue.

East Bengal had won their opening group-stage match against hosts Chittagong Abahani 2-1 last Tuesday.

Although Pakistan top-flight champions Karachi Electric are yet to be ruled out of contention for a last-four berth, they will have to depend on results elsewhere.

The Indian outfit went ahead in the 15th minute courtesy a fine strike from player of the match Orok Essien and doubled their lead just 10 minutes later through Mohammad Rafique.

And just after resumption, East Bengal made it 3-0 as Ranti Martins got himself on the score-sheet.

Karachi Electric grabbed a consolation goal eight minutes from the final whistle when Mohammad Rasool bagged his second goal of the tournament.
