RAB 12 Company Commander ASP Mahiuddin Faruqui said acting on a tip-off, a team of RAB raided the house of one Shahadat at Moisha village, where the outlawed party members were staying.
He said: “Sensing the presence of the RAB members, the outlawed men opened fire, forcing the elite force members to fire back that triggered a gunfight around 2:45am Wednesday.
“Akbar Hossain and Manu Miah were caught in the line of fire and died on the spot. Three other extremists also sustained injuries.”
“However, the other members of their gang managed to flee.”
The injured were admitted to Tangail Medical College Hospital under police custody.
The elite force also recovered one foreign-made pistol, one shutter gun, two rounds of bullet and some bullet shells from the scene.
