The government has doubled the salaries of the president, prime minister, speaker, chief Justice, ministers and lawmakers.
The cabinet has approved a proposal to increase the pay scale in its regular meeting on Monday afternoon.
The cabinet also approved a law in this concern.
According to the proposal, the salary of the president has been raised to Tk120,000 from the current Tk61,200, while the prime minister’s salary will be increased to Tk115,000 from the current Tk58,600.
The salary of the speaker is fixed at Tk112,000 from Tk57,200, chief justice at Tk110,000 from Tk56,000, ministers at Tk105,000 from Tk53,100.
The leader of the opposition and the chief whip will also get equal salary to the ministers.
Meanwhile, the salaries of the state ministers have been set at Tk92,000 from Tk 47,800. The salary of deputy leader of opposition and whips will be the same of state ministers.
Besides, the salaries of deputy speakers have been increased to Tk86,500 from Tk 45,150 while the salaries of the members of parliament have been fixed at Tk55,500 fro 27,500.
On the other hand, the allowances of the high government officials have also been increased.
The new pay scale will be effective from July 2015 while the new allowances will be given to the officials from July next year.
