Nephew of former fisheries and livestock minister Abdul Latif Biswas has stabbed a weaver to death at Enayetpur of Sirajganj.

The deceased is Abdul Kader, 35, son of Nur Hossain of Khidro Goprakhi village.

Enayetpur police station OC Monirul Islam said former minister Latif Biswas's nephew Nannu Biswas along with his supporters beat up local UP member Shamsul in drunken condition around 10:30pm Sunday.

"Meanwhile, locals protested the incident and weaver Abdul Kader was stabbed by Nannu during the protest," said the OC.

He was rushed to a local hospital where he died on the same night.

Police recovered the body on Monday morning and sent it to sadar hospital morgue for autopsy.

When contacted, Latif Biswas said: "I heard that a weaver was killed in a clash. Whoever the culprit is, will be punished. Even if he is my nephew, I have nothing to say about it. The law will take its own course."
