Two motorbike riders died and two others were injured in a head-on collision with a mini-truck on the Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar Highway at Lohagara upazila in Chittagong yesterday evening.
The deceased are Tanzir, 16, the son of Abdul Malek, and Md Sakil, 16, the son of Hachi Mia, said highway police sources. The two teenagers are from the Ahmedabad area of Lohagara, while the identity of the injured could not be immediately ascertained, said Officer-in-Charge (OC) AKM Kawsar Chowdhury of Dohazari Highway Police Station.
OC Kawsar said the mini-truck collided head on with the motorbike, carrying the two teens, at Lohar Dighir par around 4:30pm, leaving them dead on the spot, and injuring two others.
Soon after the accident, the truck driver fled the scene with his vehicle, while police recovered the bodies from the spot on being informed, said the OC.
