Two cousins have drowned in a pond at Terabaria Moholla in Natore.
The deceased are Tripti,12, daughter of Abdul Halim and a class V student of Galimpur Government Primary School, and her cousin Pushpita, 14, daughter of Al-Mamun and a class VII student of Bagatipara Girls' High School. They are the residents of Chokgoash village.
Bagatipara OC Aminur Rahman said they went to their brother-in-law Rabiul Islam's house in Terabaria Moholla on Wednesday.
“Pushpita got drowned while taking a bath in the pond Thursday morning. Tripti also got drowned while trying to save her cousin,” he said.
Later, their bodies were recovered from the pond around 12:15pm.
The OC said the bodies have been handed over to the family members.
