Vehicles without digital number plate and RFID tags will not be allowed to ply on roads and highways throughout the country from January 1, Roads Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has said.
He said all vehicles will have to collect digital number plate (retro reflective number plate) and RFID tags by December 31 and if it is violated, any vehicle will not be allowed to run from January 1 across the country.
The minister made the announcement in a meeting at the secretariat on Wednesday.
Regarding recent transport fare, Obaidul said: "The fare saw an increase of just 10 paisa per km following the increase of gas price."
"But last few days I have observed many transports businessmen had collected excess fare illegally. I am surprised as some state-run BRTC buses are charging extra fare. Passengers complained to me, I got the truth.
We have set five BRTA mobile courts in the capital to prevent such illegal activities and the campaign will continue,” the minister went on.
