Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), in a special drive, have arrested a leader of Myanmar rebel group ‘Arakan Army’ from Adarsha Natun Para area under Rajasthali upazila in Rangamati.
Dr Renin Sokey was held from Adarsha Natun Para area on Tuesday night, BGB Major Sabbir Ahmed told the Dhaka Tribune.
"We have detained the Arakan Army leader Renin Sokey after a month long frantic drive and he was handed over to the police," said the BGB official.
Rajasthali OC Wahidullah Sarker said Renin had been named in two cases filed by police.
He said the detainee was taken to the police station but was likely to be produced before Rangamati court on Wednesday.
