Man killed in Dhaka road crash, daughter injured

A man has been killed and his daughter injured when a bus rammed their rickshaw in front of Malibagh Super Market in the capital.

Rampura police station SI Momem Barua confirmed the death to the Dhaka Tribune.

The deceased was identified as Md Motiur Rahman, 65, said the police official, adding Motiur’s daughter Sajmin Rahman Badhon, 19, received serious injury in the mishap.

The incident took place at 6:15 on Saturday when a bus hit the rickshaw carrying them. During the time, they skidded off from rickshaw on the road and the bus ran over them, leaving Motiur dead on the spot.

Sajmin was admitted to a local hospital in the area.

Motiur’s body was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital at 7:30am and it was kept on DMCH morgue for autopsy, said Muzammel Haq, in-charge of DMCH.

The killer vehicle, however, could not be traced, police said.
