The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has advised Bangladeshi nationals not to travel to war-torn Libya until further notice.
A foreign ministry statement issued on Thursday, “strongly advised” all Bangladeshi nationals and migrant workers against travelling to Libya due to the deteriorating security situation throughout the country.
The notice reads: “Travelling to Libya is not safe for anyone until the situation becomes stable in the conflict-torn country.”
The ministry also advised the Bangladeshi workers, who came home on vacation, not to join their workplaces in Libya until the situation turns normal.
Earlier, Bangladesh suspended diplomatic operations in Libya and relocated its mission staff to Tunisia in July.
Libya has been torn by civil war since 2011 after the ouster of Muammar Gaddafi.
Around 50,000 Bangladeshis are currently working in Libya mainly at construction and oil field sites, according to the Bangladesh embassy.
A militia group loyal to IS kidnapped two Bangladeshis from Benghazi in March. Later, they were released and returned home.
