At least five people have been injured as police launched baton charges on medical admission seekers who were on the way to lay siege to the Health Ministry.
When asked, Bangladesh Students’ Federation General Secretary Ashraful Alam Shohel confirmed it to the Dhaka Tribune.
Alam also said law enforcers lobbed three rounds of tear shells on the procession when the protesting students reached Karwan Bazar area on Wednesday afternoon, demanding cancellation of the results of the admission tests of MBBS and Bachelor of Dental Surgery.
Earlier on the day, the admission seekers put a blockade on Shabagh intersection.
About 300-400 students along with their guardians took position on the Central Shaheed Minar premises in the morning and then they moved to the busy intersection around 12pm and put the blockade there.
A massive tailback appeared soon on all roads leading to the Shabagh intersection.
