Expressing her determination to build a livable country for the future generation, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has dedicated the Champions of the Earth award to the people of the country.
While addressing the civic reception organised by the two Dhaka City Corporations in the South Plaza of the Parliament on Monday afternoon, the PM said: "She said Bangladesh would defy any hindrance in order to save its environmental balance and we will protect our environment in order to save the biodiversity.
She further said Bangladesh will not look for help from others. "Bangladesh will stand in the global level on its own feet, with its own ability and honor."
She also stressed the need for protecting the country from the impacts of the climate change alongside increasing food production of the country.
Cabinet members, prime ministers advisers, senior leaders of the ruling Awami League and its alliance, and civil society members have attended the event.
On September 27, Sheikh Hasina accepted the award in recognition of Bangladesh's far-reaching initiatives to address climate change. The award was given in the Policy Leadership category.
