The wife of Bangladeshi cricketer Shahadat Hossain has been arrested from Malibag area in Dhaka for allegedly torturing their domestic help.
Police arrested Jesmin Jahan Nitto from Malibagh and took her to Mirpur police station early Sunday.
Deputy Commissioner of Mirpur police Kaiyum Uz Jaman confirmed about the arrest to the Dhaka Tribune.
Mirpur police station OC Bhuiyan Mahbub Hasan said: "We will seek remand for her [Shahadat's wife] in the court. We are also trying to get Shahadat's whereabouts."

On September 7, journalist Khandaker Mojammel Hossain filed a case against the couple with Mirpur model police station on charge of torturing their domestic help Happy.
Happy, daughter of Aroz Ali of Jamalpur, district was rescued from Pallabi in the capital on September 6 with injuries in her body. In the morning, she managed to come out of Shahadat’s house.
But soon after the case, the couple went into hiding. Police are yet to arrest Shahadat in connection with the case.

Fast bowler Shahadat, who sustained a knee injury while playing in the second test against Pakistan earlier this year, lives in Mirpur 2.
Following the recording, the magistrate sent the 10-year-old girl back to the One-stop Crisis Centre (OCC) of Dhaka Medical College Hospital where she was undergoing treatment.
