Road accidents kill three

Three people were killed in separate road accidents across the country yesterday.

A woman was killed and three others injured as a microbus overturned at Shahpur area on the Dhaka-Sylhet Highway in Madhabpur upazila in the afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Fatema Ishrat Mukta, 25, daughter of Mobarak Ullah, the owner of Siam Computerized Elastic Industries Ltd, a garments accessories and packaging company in the capital.

Officer-in charge of Shaistaganj Highway police camp Izazul Islam said the accident took place when Ishrat, who was driving the Dhaka-bound microbus herself, lost her control over the steering in the area around 2pm, leaving her dead on the spot and her husband Rezaul Karim and children Hira and Siam critically injured.

In Bogra, a person was killed and 20 others injured in a road accident on Dhaka-Bogra Highway at Dhankundi under Sherpur upazila in the early hours of the day. The deceased was identified as truck driver Abul Basher, 30, son of Abdul Mottaleb of Bhola district.

In Khagrachhari, a student was killed and 30 others were injured in a road accident in Board Office area of Matiranga upazila.

The deceased was Md Kabir Ahmed, 20, son of Safar Ali of Tabalchhari Noapara.
