A four-year child has drowned while crossing a bamboo bridge in Gopalganj sadar upazila.
The child is Afriz Hasan, son of Alamgir Sheikh of Raghunathpur Kheyaghat area.
Raghunathpur upazila Chairman Saroj Kanti Biswas said that Afriz fell in the water around 9am on Wednesday while crossing the bamboo bridge on a canal in front of their house.
Local police recovered the body around 11am, he said.
According to the Unicef, drowning claims the lives of thousands of children in Bangladesh every year.
