7 killed in Gopalganj road accident

Seven people, including six of a family, have been killed and four others injured in a head-on collision between a microbus and a battery-run three-wheeler at Shibpur in Gopalganj.

The deceased were identified as Khokon Sikder,45, resident of Telagi village under Sadar upazila, his wife Chaina Begum, 38, daughters Aniya,16, and Chadni,8, his mother Katebunnessa,65, his nephew Sakib,13, and driver of the three wheelers Swapan Sarder, 35, son of Kalam, resident of Khanarpar village of the same upazila. 

Gopalganj Fire Service Station Master Niamul Huda said: “The microbus collided with the three-wheeler on Gopalganj-Katalipara road around 10:30am Saturday, killing one on the spot and injuring the others.”

Gopalganj 250-bed General Hospital's Residential Medical Officer Dr Topon Mojumdar said: “Five of them were dead when brought to the hospital while a child died when shifted to the bed from the emergency unit.”

He said another died while undergoing treatment at the hospital.
