Three people have been killed and 10 others injured in a head-on collision between two buses at Bhoria area under Shibganj upazila in Bogra.
The deceased are Abul Kalam Azad, 35, of Monsur Rahman of Gaibandha, Abdul Quader, 28, son of Rofiatulshahor of Kurigram and Ashraful Islam, 30, son of Abdul Kader of the same district.
Witnesses said a Panchagar-bound bus of Nogor Poribohon collided head-on with a Dhaka-bound bus of Safamarwa Poribohon coming from the opposite direction around 6:30am Thursday, killing Abul Kalam on the spot and injuring the others.
Later, two others died when the injured were admitted to Shahid Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital.
Shibganj OC Ahsan Habib confirmed the matter to the Dhaka Tribune.
He said: “The accident occurred place due to reckless driving. We have seized the buses but the drivers and helpers fled the scene.”
Bogra Solimpur police outpost In-Charge TSI Shah Alam said: “Of the injured, eight are being treated at the hospital while the others were released after primary treatment.”
A case has been filed with Shibganj police station regarding the matter.
