Two police members have been injured in an attack by local drug peddlers in Burichang upazila of Comilla on Tuesday.
OC Uttam Barua of Burichang police station told the Dhaka Tribune: “The incident occurred when a team of police raided the area on the basis of an information that a consignment of banned narcotic product will reach the district in the morning.
“Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, the drug traders attacked the police with locally made weapons that injured SI Moniruzzaman and constable Akram Hossain.”
The injured were admitted to Comilla Medical College Hospital.
Two drug peddlers were arrested in the drive, said the official. “They are
Liton Khan and Shahen Shah. We are trying to arrest other culprits.”
