Indian Border Security Force (BSF) beat up a farmer entering in the territory of Bangaldesh at Bhrugimari upazila under Kurigram district yesterday.
Sources said two BSF members entered in plain clothes by Kachakata frontier and tortured a farmer named Azizul Haque Khalifa while he was cutting grass in the field.
The sources said the BSF members ordered the farmer to help them to cross the nearby river by boat. But he denied their order. The BSF members became agitated at the incident and started to torture him.
Hearing screaming, locals went to the spot and chased the BSF members while they manged to flee the scene.
Lieutenant Colonel Zakir Hossain, Director of BGB-45,said that they had protested the incident in a flag meeting.
