Update : 20 Sep 2015, 07:04 PM

A Dhaka court yesterday placed three people, including an official of the University Grants Commission (UGC), on remand in a case filed with Sher-e-bangla Nagar police station over a question paper leak.

Metropolitan Magistrate Snigdha Rani Chakraborty passed the order after Sub-Inspector Ahad Ali, also investigation officer of the case, produced them before the court seeking seven days to question them while in custody.

The three remanded men are Omar Faruk, an assistant director of UGC, Rezaul Karim, and Eshan Imtiaz Redoy.

The IO mentioned in the remand plea that seven-day remand for the men is necessary to discover who else is involved in the leak.

Earlier on Friday, a team of RAB-4 conducted a drive and arrested the three from the second floor of the UGC office at Agargaon in the capital.

They also recovered some questions from the medical admission exam, 23 answer sheets and two questions from the 2014 assistant judge appointment exam, Tk2 lakh in cash, an Exim Bank cheque of Tk4 lakh, stamp seals of different government offices, three mobile phones and a notebook.

A RAB official filed a case against the accused with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police station under section 473 of the Penal Code and the Public Examinations Act.
