Private university students, who have been staging demonstrations demanding the withdrawal of 7.5% VAT on private universities, have left Dhaka streets following the PM's direction to withdraw VAT.
Vehicular movement on different city streets started getting normal since 12:30pm.

The students of six private universities blockaded Dhaka-Mymensingh in front of Mascot Plaza in House Building area of Uttara in the capital at 10am. Later, they left the road when they got the news that the prime minister has asked the finance minister to withdraw VAT around 12:30pm.
Meanwhile, hundreds of students of private universities located in Dhanmondi area blockaded Dhanmondi-Mirpur road in Dhanmondi 27 around 10:30am, demanding withdrawal of VAT on education.

After getting the news on decision to withdraw VAT, the protesting students hold joyous procession.Later, they left the Dhanmondi 27 road and vehicular movement became normal.
In Rampura, private university students also came on the streets to protest the VAT imposed on their tuition fees. They got back to their campus premises around 1pm.
Private university students on Sunday staged a massive demonstration in Dhaka and some other places in the country that by far is the biggest gathering since the anti-VAT protests began months ago.
