More than 100 workers of a readymade garment factory in Gazipur's Konabari area have fallen ill for unknown reason.
Konabari police outpost Sub-Inspector Mobarok Hossain said workers of Keya Nit Composite garment factory started falling sick around 9am Saturday.
Police and factory authorities sent the ailing workers to local clinics and hospitals.
Following the incident, hundreds of workers of the factory went out of their workplace and started demonstration. Later, police brought the situation under control.
The factory was declared closed for Saturday to calm the situation.
Konabari Sharif General Hospital's doctor Khan Sharif said more than 100 workers were taken to the hospital around 9:45am.
"We are assuming that the workers are suffering from mass hysteria," he added.
