The National Board of Revenue will soon award 367 long term and highest taxpayers in the country, marking the sixth Income Tax Day on September 15 and to create awareness among individuals about the importance of paying tax.
The board has picked a total of 50 taxpayers from all 10 city corporations, including two as long time taxpayers and three as highest taxpayers from each city corporation for their immense contribution to the national exchequer in the fiscal year 2014-15.
The board has also selected five taxpayers under the same mechanism from 62 districts. It has, however, failed to select any highest taxpayer from Rangamati while one taxpayer was selected from Bandarban under the category.
Earlier, the NBR has selected 20 highest top individual taxpayers and companies with the prestigious tax cards for paying the highest income tax at the national level. A total of 10 individual taxpayers and 10 corporate taxpayers will be awarded for their immense contribution to the national exchequer.
According to the list of national taxpayers, the US-based Chevron Bangladesh Block 12 Limited tops the highest corporate taxpayers’ category while Hazi M Kaus Mia from Dhaka was selected as the highest taxpayer under the individual category.
The tax authority will hand over crests and certificates to a total of 110 taxpayers, including 90 highest and long time taxpayers under Dhaka Division in a central function in Dhaka on September 15.
The taxpayers from other districts and city corporations will receive the crests and certificates at nine different programmes in the city corporations.
Meanwhile, the board will organise a week-long tax fair across the country which will begin on September 16. Visitors would be offered the electronic TIN registration instantly.
There will be booths of Sonali Bank and Janata Bank to facilitate tax-related transactions and some booths will also be set up to facilitate registration of E-TIN services and collection of income tax returns from the visitors.
