A man and his granddaughter have been killed as truck knocked down their CNG-run autorickshaw at Debidar in Comilla.
The deceased are Md Azizur Rahman, 75, and his granddaughter Mariam Jahan Ringki, 15, daughter of late Selim Sarkar and a class IX student of Shaitshal High School. Azizur was a freedom fighter and a retired army official.
Azizur's son Advocate Motiur Rahman said: “My father and my sister's daughter Ringki went to a relative's house in Shongchail villahe on Wednesday morning.”
He said they died on the spot when a Comilla-bound truck knocked down their autorickshaw in the morning.
Mirpur highway police out-post Sub-Inspector Kibria said: “We have arrested truck driver Md Shamim.”
