More than one hundred workers of a garment factory have fallen sick after drinking water from the factory canteen.
The workers of Keya Spinning Limited were admitted to different clinics in Konabarion Wednesday morning.
Konabari police out-post Sub-Inspector Mobarak Hossain said workers drank water from the factory canteen during breakfast around 8am Wednesday.
They started vomiting, experienced headache and abdomen pain after drinking the water.
Factory authority sent them to local clinics for treatment. Later, they declared the factory closed for the day.
Anowar Hossain, a worker of the factory. said most of the workers who fell sick were women. Around six hundred workers work in this factory.
Meanwhile, some workers staged demonstration on Dhaka-Tangail highway protesting the incident. Police removed them from the spot while they tried to put barricade on the highway around 12:45pm.
The welfare and compliance section of the factory have collected the sample of water and sent it to Dhaka for testing.
