The government is set to launch a three-month campaign of re-registering SIMs from September 13 in order to stop illegal use of mobile technology.
The campaign will continue till December 13, said State Minister for Post and Telecommunications Tarana Halim.

Speaking at a meeting with the members of Telecom Reporters Network, the junior minister said: “All the SIMs will not be registered anew. Those who are yet to register their SIMs in a proper way need to go through the process again.
“Unregistered SIM cards will be blocked after December 13.”
After taking over the responsibility as state-minister for the Ministry of Post and Telecommunication, Tarana Halim made a list of work-plans in order to achieve speedy improvements in certain areas.
Under her “90 day plan,” Tarana also plans to speed up the telecommunication regulatory body BTRC and Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Limited.
