A case was filed Sunday night against National team cricketer Shahdat Hossain and his wife for allegedly torturing their 11-year-old housemaid.
The case was filed with Mirpur police around 11pm. The case file says the minor had been abused earlier in the day.
Mirpur police Inspector (investigation) Shafiqur Rahman told the Dhaka Tribune that journalist Khandkar Mozzamel Haque had found the injured girl, who told him she had been tortured by the cricketer and his wife, in Pallabi Journalist Colony.
Mozzamel then took her to Pallabi police station.
Pallabi police directed the journalist to Mirpur police station because the alleged abuse took place in their jurisdiction.
A case was filed with Mirpur police and the girl was sent to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital One-Stop Crisis Centre for treatment.
The police inspector said they had found injury marks on the girl's body.
Shahadat had filed a general diary with Mirpur police on Sunday afternoon saying that the couple's housemaid had gone missing.
