A teenager has been detained for physically assaulting a schoolgirl and uploading the video to Facebook.
The assaulter, a class IX student of a local School, recently scolded and slapped a class VIII female student of another local Girls' HIgh School, in public.
The companions of the teenage boy filmed the incident on mobile phone and the video footage was uploaded to Facebook on Thursday.
Protesting the incident, locals staged a human chain in Town Hall area on Friday morning.
Later, locals caught the assaulter from Richi area and handed him over to police in the afternoon.
Habiganj sadar model police station OC Nazim Uddin said no complaint was filed in this connection.
He, however, said police were trying to catch the others involved with the incident.
The detainee claimed that he had love affair with the girl and his friends filmed the incident and uploaded it to Facebook.
