An accused of shooting and snatching firearms from the police personnel has been killed in a “gunfight” with the law enforcers near Palpara Bridge area in Comilla.
The deceased is Zero Sumon, son of Shahjahan Saju, of Ashoktala area.

Comilla Detective Branch (DB) police SI Kamal Akand said: “Sumon and his associates opened fire targeting a police vehicle while the DB team was returning from a drive around 2am Wednesday.”
In retaliation, DB police fired back that left Sumon bullet wounded. He died on his way to Comilla Medical College Hospital.
He said a pistol, five rounds of bullets and three local guns were recovered from the spot.
Meanwhile, DB police detained Sumon's associates Jamal, Sahid, Swapan and Jakir from the spot.
On November 6, last year, Sumon's group shot SI Firoz Sarkar and snatched his pistol when he went to detain Sumon from Jautala area.
Later, Sumon's associates Rabbi and Jony were killed in a “gunfight” with DB police on November 9. They were also involved in the incident of snatching SI Firoz's pistol.
