Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) has formed a probe committee to investigate Sunday’s fire that broke out at 60 megawatt Shikalbaha Thermal Power plant in Chittagong’s Patiya upazila.
Following the incident, a 132 KV transmitter was damaged while a portion of local power supply line at Patiya upazila has been disrupting, said Shikalbaha Power Station Manager Bhuban Bijoy Dutta.

Bhuban Bijoy Dutta Monday told the Dhaka Tribune that PDB formed the three-member probe committee headed by Chief Engineer of Raozan Power Station Md Abdul Khalek.
The other members are executive engineer Kanai Chandra Dash of Raozan Power Plant and Shikalbaha Power Plant’s Assitant Director (security) Abul Bashar, he added.
“The committee was asked to submit its report within three working days”.
A fire broke out at the power station on Sunday evening at Patiya upazila damaging the transmitter while fire fighters doused the blaze after two and half hour later.
The burnt transmitter was too old and it presence price would go Tk10 to 20 lakh as per last auction, added Bhuban.
