The government has appointed Hassan Mahmood Khandker, a former Inspector General of Police (IGP), as Bangladesh Ambassador to Spain, said a foreign ministry press release on Sunday.
Earlier, Hassan also served as Director General of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Additional Inspector General of Police in the Special Branch and in the Police Headquarters, and as the Principal of Bangladesh Police Academy, Sardah, Rajshahi.
He was awarded UN Peace Medal for his outstanding contribution to the UN Peacekeeping Mission at Bosnia and Herzegovina.
He is a member of BCS (Police) cadre, 1982 batch. Khandker obtained BA (Hons) and MA in English Literature from the University of Dhaka.
