Biman launches public hearings to resolve passengers’ sufferings

Update : 29 Aug 2015, 07:18 PM

Biman Bangladesh Airlines has recently launched “Public Hearing” system for resolving the sufferings of its passengers.

An official of Biman said, “Biman has introduced public hearing system as per the directives of the government for reducing the sufferings of the passengers.”

In most cases, Biman fails to maintain its flight schedules due to poor maintenance of its fleet and administrative mismanagement. As a result, flight delay has become an everyday phenomenon of the national flag carrier.

Coincidently, Skytrax, a web-based airline and airport rating and review platform, has, meanwhile, rated Biman as the second worst among 21 airlines in the world.

Australian travel news agency Traveller.com.au published the report on August 26, which entailed details of world’s worst airlines based on Skytrax, a UK-based airline ranking system.

However, the state-run airliner has arranged public hearings on complaints lodged by any passenger.

Besides, any organisation can also lodge complaint to Biman authorities about any sufferings.

Public hearings will take place each Monday from 11am to 3pm at Biman customer services at the administrative building.

If Monday is a holiday, the scheduled public hearing will take place on next working day at the same time and same venue.

Anybody can lodge his or her complaint by calling at 8901525 or by sending email at [email protected].

Accusers are requested to contact and attend the above-mentioned address for the public hearing on their grievances.

Biman operates flights in 22 international destinations, most of which are loss incurring. The national flag carrier incurred a loss of Tk594 crore in the 2011-12 fiscal year and Tk191 crore in 2012-13.

According to Skytrax, Biman, which received a customer rating of 5/10, was reviewed on the website to have a “totally disorganised” check-in system.
