Indian-Bangladeshis celebrate ‘Rakhi Bandhan’ on Hili border

Hundreds of people from India and Bangladesh yesterday celebrated ‘Rakhi Bandhan’ festivity on Hili frontiers in Dinajpur amid huge enthusiasm to further cement friendly relations between the two peoples.

The Hili frontier turned into a huge ‘Milan Mela’ since the festivity began at noon on the zero line near Hili Immigration Check Post under Hakimpur upazila when people of all ages started gathering there from both the countries.

The authority of Hili Camp of Indian Border Security Forces (BSF) and teachers and students Dharonda Primary School in Bangladesh side jointly arranged the traditional ‘Rakhi Bandhan’ festivity where national anthems of both the nations were played.

The BSF members and teachers and students Dharonda Primary School tied ‘Rakhi’ on the hands of the on-duty members of Indian BSF and Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) and policemen of Hili Immigration Check Post and common people.

Company Commander of Indian Hili BSF Company Pankaj Kumar, Hili BGB Company Commander of Fazlur Rahman and OC of Hili Immigration Check Post Sub-inspector Rafik Uzzaman were present on the occasion.

The socio-cultural and political workers and activists, artists, teachers, writers, common people of all ages including men, women, youths, adolescents, girls, students, farmers and relatives from either country participated in the festivity.

While tying ‘Rakhi’ on each-others hands, people said demarcation of international boundary lines between the two nations would never be able to weaken ties between the two peoples.
