BNP activists’ attack on Juba League rally has triggered a furious clash in Natore.
The spar initiated when local BNP men led by union BNP leader Abul Bapari attacked on the rally of Juba League activists of Tebaria union.
The rally was heading to the town to join Awami league’s mourning program, remembering the death anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Later, BNP activists and Juba league activists locked into fierce clash.
Superintendent of Police of Natore Shyamol Kumar Mukharjee confirmed the clash to the Dhaka Tribune.
Several rounds of bullets were exchanged during the clash, locals also informed the Dhaka Tribune.
Two Juba League activists received bullet-hit injuries. The activists are Rajib Hossein, son of Amin and Nazmul Hassan, son of Nader Ali of Tebaria area.
Locals rushed them at Natore Sadar hospital where the attending doctor referred Rajib to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, the police official confirmed.
Afterwards, the agitated Juba League men as well as locals set torch on Abul Bapari's residence also vandalised some shops including Mamun Bekari of BNP followers in the area.
Police and RAB personnel controlled the situation at 10:30pm.
Natore Awami League organised a mourning program, remembering the death anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahaman at Station Bazar area in the city on Saturday afternoon where local Member of Parliament (MP) Shafiqul Islam Shimul was chief guest.
