MP's motorcade attacked in Faridpur
The motorcade of Rajbari 1 constituency MP Kazi Keramat Ali has been attacked in Peyarpur area of Faridpur sadar. At least 12 people were injured in the attack. They were given primary treatment at local hospital. The lawmaker was on way to offer prayers at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's mazar in Gopalganj when the motorcade came under attack around 10am Saturday.
Two held with 5kg gold at Kamalapur
Railway police have detained two persons in possession of five kilograms of gold at Kamalapur Railway Station. The arrestees were identified as Jhutan Biswas, 21, and Rahul, 28.
Robber killed in Comilla 'gunfight'
A robber has been killed in a "gunfight" with members of DB police in Perul area under Sadar southupazila of Comilla. Deceased Abdul Kader, 35, is the son of Khahadat Hossain of Bharanikhand village. Police detained eight robbers in possession with firearms and ammunition from the spot.
Jubo League leader stabbed to death in Gazipur
A Jubo League leader has been stabbed to death allegedly by rival group during a meeting to observe the National Mourning Day at Kaliakoir in Gazipur. Deceased Rafiqul Islam, 43, was former president of Kaliakoir Jubo League.
India extends Taslima’s visa
Indian government has extended exiled Bangladeshi author Taslima Nasreen’s visa for a year. The decision has been taken following an intervention of Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh as Taslima has been requesting the Indian government to further extend her visa.

IS deputy killed in air strike
The No 2 leader of the Islamic State militant group was killed in a US military airstrike in Iraq earlier this week, the White House said Friday. Ned Price, a spokesman for the White House National Security Council, said Fadhil Ahmad al-Hayali was traveling in a vehicle near Mosul, in northern Iraq, when he was killed Tuesday.
